Can I have your advice please on the removal of a mature Flowering Cherry tree growing on the grass roadside verge adjacent to my property. The roots of the tree have now reached the foundation of my property and I am anxious to terminate their growth. To the best of my knowledge the tree may have been planted by a previos owner. I have an inherited aerial image circa 1990 (based on garden features prior to our occupation). My own simplistic solution would be to fell the tree to a one foot stump and then attempt to kill off the root system - if such is possible. But I am not sure what the consequencies might be. Please advise. Reported anonymously at 16:35, Wed 15 May 2019 I presume the tree was planted by a previous owner circa 1990. I have an inherited aerial shot of that vintage that suggests (from hedge growth) that the image was taken some three or four years prior to our occupation.
