Overgrown hedges along the west side of Scothern Road

Reported anonymously at 12:59, Tuesday 31 August 2021

Hi - there are overgrown hedges on the footpath along the western side of Scothern Road from The Dene up to/beyond Cotton Smith Way. I’ve just clicked one point on the map but as I say the problem is all along this path. You can see from the photos that the hedges/undergrowth stick out and cover probably 2 feet of path. You can see the grit bin has been grown around and on the final photo you can see where I’ve scuffed a line back into the undergrowth to show there’s about 2 feet of properly surfaced path that is now unusable. Please could we ask that you arrange for this overgrowth to be cut back as soon as possible? The overgrowth forces pedestrians to walk on the side of the path next to the road. Scothern Road is a main exit route from the village and vehicles often accelerate considerably along Scothern Road. So pedestrians are having to walk right next to a busy road with many speeding and fast-moving vehicles. This feels like a significant safety issue, particularly for children and families walking home from school. So please could we ask you to address this as soon as you can? Many thanks, we really appreciate your help.
