Standing Water / Flooding

Reported anonymously at 21:00, Wed 17 May 2017

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council and South Holland District Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1038953.

Yet again we get a days rain and my garden, driveway and garage are full of water due to the highway drains not being able to cope. I look forward to yet another clean up at the weekend due to the sewers flooding as well. Could SHD Council please make an effort to get the highway drains sorted and don't trh and fob me off with excuses about it being someone else's fault.

Updates

  • We had to call out the fire brigade to pump the road and gardens clear as the water had risen to within 2 inches of my damp proof course and also contained sewage. They left at about 1am and since then the night and day were dry. The last photo was taken at 1445 the following day after the road had been in full sun....There has been little change in the level most of it probably from evaporation. No sign of the council, highways or water board today but we were glad to talk to the press when they turned up after seeing it on the BBC Look North news this morning. I will be writing to my MP just as soon as the General Election has passed.

  • Water suddenly went at about 1500, nice so called flushable wipes lodged on the drain cover. Further up you can see the problems as the gulley on the corner at Pennygate is blocked with all sorts of detritus.
