Dropped man hole cover on the corner of Church Road and Wood Farm Road in front of fireplace 'shop' The vibration is deafening and shakes the whole ground when the heavy vehicles pass 'through it.' The road carries busses and heavy vehicles all day and night and it is deafening and needs urgent attention before a motorbike hits it and it causes a serious injury or death.

This has been here for months and is getting worse. It is definitely a serious issue and can cause structural damage to our property.

  • Dear Sir/Madam I would like to inform you that on Sunday morning a team of workers arrived to fix the sunken drain as reported above. (21.01.2018) Unfortunately the drain cover remains at least one inch sunken lower than the road surface. This continues to cause a severe shudder of my property when heavy vehicles pass through the drain. The vehicles travel at an unbelievable fast speed down this road and as it is a busy road for pedestrians and children and disabled people on scooters, it is a disaster waiting to happen. There is a school about 100 metres down the road and many parents and small children cross this road. I would like you to consider the dangers this very busy road poses to properties and pedestrians alike. The traffic continues until late into the night and the noise when trucks hit that sunken drain makes it difficult to have a decent night's sleep. I am not sure why the drain cover is sunken as should a motorbike hit it, it can have implications. How has it happened that the repair team did not consider the drain cover 'odd' and replace it. The drain is situated on a bend in the road and on a very busy T junction intersection. Can an engineer please visit and consider measures that will make this road a safe road and prevent possible damage to my property. Why is there not a traffic slowing measure put into place when it is obvious that this is a extremely busy road used by buses, gigantic trucks, emergency vehicle and loads of school children who walks down the lane next to my property to and from school. The speed limit of 30 is already too fast. But I have witnessed vehicles and huge trucks travel at speeds that I find unacceptable. Will you be good enough to consider this suggestion and have an engineer visit to establish why a drain cover is so significantly lower than the road surface. I do appreciate how cash strapped councils are and appreciate that it has been attended to, but it has not resolved the origican issue. Still sunken, still huge trucks and buses passing through it, still the scary shuddering of my property. And in addition the speed which is a real reason for concern.
