Blocked Road Drains

Reported in the Blocked drain category by Paul Matten at 09:26, Tue 9 October 2018

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 4 minutes later. Council ref: 339108.

With heavy rain this morning, it is apparent that many road drains are still blocked with last year’s debris, causing flooding at many locations. No with the year’s leaf fall, which is seldom cleared away, the problem will get worse. Walking along High Street, Spalding, this morning I got a good drenching between Water Lane and Church Street (photos attached)!! Other areas noted were Church Street/Love Lane – various sections of Love Lane – London Road to St Thomas Road - St Thomas Road to Priory Road – Green Lane btween Cross Street and Havelock Street. All these areas are used by pedestrians and in the interests of their well being, a survey and appropriate remedial action needs to be given some priority. Yours sincerely, Paul Matten 15 Green Lane Spalding.

  • There are dozens of blocked drains in Spalding, now made worse by leaf debris. Nothing is swept up in Spalding, just left to people and cars to grind it away to a slurry which is now blocking the drains. The photo shows a blocked drain - how more blocked can it be? Someone has kindly put "Flood" signs on the road at London Road! Welland Road/St Thomas Road drain is blocked and is a flood disaster. Drains are blocked on High Street (as already reported when I got a drenching from passing cars which do not slow down. Enough is enough - get your drain clearing team into Spalding, close the roads for parking, and at least give us some respite! Not happy Paul Matten
