Dangerous potholes for cyclists
Reported in the Pothole on road/cycleway category anonymously at 21:19, Mon 22 October 2018
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 339992.
I was cycling on Sunday afternoon and I had clear visibility which allowed me to see the pothole from a distance. Unfortunately, I was unable to avoid the impact of the pothole as there were numerous vehicles closely behind and around me and to manoeuvre at such short notice out of the way would have be hazardous to not only myself but also the motorist. As I took the full impact of the pothole I was lucky enough to keep my balance but my iPhone was not so lucky. My iPhone catapulted into the air and landed on the road. My iPhone is fixed onto my bicycle via a aircraft grade magnetic mount which magnetises onto the back of the iPhone's case (also magnetic.) As relieved as I am to have not gone under a car, I am extremely unhappy that such a pothole has contributed to the damage of my iPhone. I would like a claim form from the Council in the hope that my iPhone can be repaired. I must also stress that as I was able to see the pothole from a distance, I was potentially able to reduce the amount of impact. However, a cyclist seeing this last minute could really become seriously injured upon impact, or worse.
