Ground collapsed in front of a concrete drain
Reported in the Manhole/drain cover on pavement/verge category anonymously at 14:21, Fri 22 March 2019
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 4 minutes later. Council ref: 349176.
Our car was damaged today due to the state of the verge in Ranyards Lane (off the A153 near Scamblesby). Whilst driving towards Goulceby, we drove off the road slowly to allow a horsebox to pass, not realising the ground had collapsed in front of a concrete drain, which in turn had been covered with grass. This meant the ditch and drain were not visible from inside the car and the impact has caused damage to the front and side of the car, with possible damage to the suspension. The exact location is the verge opposite the bridge, which is just after the junction with Asterby Lane. The bridge and road have recently been worked on by council contractors and the heavy vehicles have caused the ground around the drain to collapse and now that the grass has grown over the drain itself, it is invisible from the road. See photos attached of the drain and damage to car.
The state of the verge is dangerous to cars, pedestrians and horse riders and needs to be repaired urgently.
We will submit a claim for the damage incurred to our car and request you email or send in the post, a claim form. We will provide copies of invoices for cost of repair and any other evidence necessary.
Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter.
