St George's Street from M&S store to corner of St Leonard's Street paving slabs are all cracked, loose and raised causing hazard to pedestrians, disabled, elderly, wheelchair, mobility scooter & parents with children in pushchairs

Reported in the Trip hazard/uneven surface category anonymously at 15:00, Fri 31 May 2019

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 5 minutes later. Council ref: 351615.

This hazard constantly persists at this end of the street & is caused by delivery and other vehicles mounting the pavement to traverse this very narrow street which is only suitable for 1 way traffic if at all. I have experienced such vehicles also narrowly missing my head & body from protruding mirrors at height so as to avoid other vehicles in opposite direction. This street is so narrow that it cannot justify 2 or even 1 way traffic. Solution to this hazard is to pedestrianise as part of PZ in Stamford & prohibit traffic from this vicinity

  • Lady observed today at 14:45 with walking frame falling over in St Georges Street due to problem reported earlier (see copied below) I helped her to her feet and asked if she was injured & her reply was that she hadn't been hurt I stated that I have on many occasions before reported issues relating to paving stones raised and uneven in this location due to goods and other vehicles traversing this very narrow street on pavement to avoid oncoming traffic in both directions which crack and fracture the pavement stones It is my opinion that this street should be closed to traffic & pedestrianised or at least made one way and goods vehicles prohibited from St George's Street. • Another lady as tripped and fell and badly bruised her face this week outside M&S. I trip and stumble over the broken and loose slabs frequently but as yet not fallen but get a wet foot if I step on them in wet weather. It needs to be fixed immediately.
