Overgrown hedge and trees junction is blind and dangerous, road signs are obscured.

Reported in the Obstruction on pavement/verge category anonymously at 14:07, Monday 1 July 2019

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 5 minutes later. Council ref: 352994.

A property on the junction of Fengate road and Money bridge road has a hedge and trees that have been left to grow over the 3 ft grass verge, causing the junction to be blind and dangerous. I was walking my dog with my autistic son and nearly got knocked over by a car coming around the junction, we had to get out the cars way quick. When you are in a car you need to drive very close to the hedge other wise an oncoming cars will hit you. When you drive close to the hedge you get your vehicle scratched like my partners van has been! we have photos but i could only down load 3. Cars also when looking for places cannot read the road signs till they are level with them which is also dangerous as they have to stop on the junction to do this. I have also seen cars using the main cross roads to enter Fengate road as the are to scared to drive down the slip road of the junction as its so dangerous. I have spoke to the police about this and they assured me it was highways I need to contact about properties hedge. It is just a matter of time before there is an accident here I would also like to know if the scratches do not polish out of my partners van who do we need to contact to make a claim?

  • This conifer hedge has not been cut back and is still overhanging and making the junction blind, every time we go through this junction the tree/hedge is scratching our van and also it is blocking the view of any oncoming traffic. My child who has autism was nearly hit by a van this would not of been the vans fault as he could now t see. If these people want high hedges they need to keep them cut back but I can only presume now that this is now the councils responsibility and we will be putting a claim in with our van if the scratches do not come out.
