Persistent Flooding Problem

Reported in the Blocked drain category by Mike Herbert at 10:58, Tue 2 July 2019

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 3 minutes later. Council ref: 353029.

Hi, below are details of an issue that I reported back in 2016.

# I never received any updates from you telling me that you had dealt with the problem. Clearly there is something wrong with your procedures. # This problem has persisted for the last 10 years or so. Although I am pleased that you often send a team down to clear the blockage you are only dealing with the symptoms rather than the problem. Could a long term solution be found please. Your regular maintenance costs must now exceed expenditure to provide a permanent fix. ………………………………………

Thank you for reporting a highway fault on 14/06/2016 15:40:49

Your reference number is: 101000131620

Fault type: Standing water over half the carriageway Your description: Flooding is yet again occuring at this location. It happens almost every time it rains and the problem has been re-occuring for the last few years. I understand that LCC have cleared the drains a couple of times but since this problem keeps coming back there is clearly something wrong other than a build up of debris. This problem is creating a dangerous hazard in cold weather when the water freezes. Vehicles coming off the A158 skid across the junction Vehicles waiting to leave the junction to get onto the A158 struggle as they cannot get traction. The flooding is completely across the road and can be up to 170mm deep. The water does not dissipate quickly over time. After a flooding event it can take more than 3 days to dry up. I am a Parish Councillor and over the last week at least 8 residents have reported this persistent problem to me. Location: Barlings Lane, , Langworth
