It is impossible to see oncoming traific without walking into the road.
Reported in the Obstruction on pavement/verge category anonymously at 23:21, Mon 5 August 2019
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 4 minutes later. Council ref: 354214.
There is a split in the road for when the A46 meets the roundabout. I have already reported the first hazard about the trees/bushes, however this second hazard is much more dangerous.
Once you've crossed the first lane you have to look for the traffic coming from the next lane. However if a large vehicle stops to let you pass (.e.g: Van, lorry, etc) then it is impossible for you to see oncoming traffic from the next lane and it is impossible for oncoming drivers to see you all because of a slight bend. You are now stuck in the middle of two lanes and you cannot cross the next lane without walking into it blindly. Also there are a lot of vehicles that go fast into the roundabout so they still have a lot of momentum if they hit you.
I was very nearly ran-over in this way by a Mercedes van going at least 25, I think there should be some sort of pedestrian splitter in the middle of the two lanes just like they have bettween each 4 lanes going to and from the roundabout.
I think this problem has been present since the road was built, however it's always been a hazardous crossing so people avoid using it. However I am going to be starting university soon and will be using it about 4 times a week. I do not want to be run-over so I'm reporting it.
