We live at 71 Mareham Lane and try constantly, with other neighbours, to sweep the road and pavement and keep the drains clear from the leaf drop sludge from the EMEB and other trees opposite. Without our input your road drains would be solid and the road and footpath flooding continually. Your last recent attempted clearance has not worked fully and the drains are very sluggish so heavy rain brings more footpath flooding. From now through December, the drains from Keepers Way out to the flats on the bend need weekly attention! But they need a proper sludge-out first. If you let us know when, we will speak to all neighbours to leave road clear.

The problem is not leaf drop sludge but poor drainage. The drain outside number 48 does not drain at all and therefore creates a pool which reaches the centre of the road and cars drive through it, sometimes at speed, creating a dangerous situation. The drain outside number 50(approx) 20m further down the road drains very well. This would suggest that there is a blockage in the drainage pipe between the to drain covers. A complete drain unblock is required.
