Water standing on road for weeks - no drainage
Reported in the Flooding category anonymously at 06:53, Mon 30 December 2019
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 2 minutes later. Council ref: 362473.
My report of June 2018 has never been properly addressed and resolved. Following the heavy rains recently, the road on the bend on Eaudyke road is totally covered grass bank to grass bank, pothole to pothole. This is no very dangerous as it's failing to drain and the use of this road by HGVs & large tractors forces other traffic to the road edges where the edge has been broken down by such vehicles. If a car used the road edge the likely-hood of them dropping into a pothole and damaging suspension etc possibly even an RTC. Water drains off the top field onto the road but had nowhere to drain off the road. The easiest solution would be to dig a drainage channel in the verge to allow drainage into the field. Note: Since the damage to Bedford Bridge and road closure, the likelihood of this piece of road having significantly extra HGV / large tractor traffic is high.

Last night with the temperatures low and this road ungritted, traffic using this road were spreading the "large puddle" and the result was a very large patch of ice. I came through around 23:15 Saturday 18/01/2020 and experienced a lack of grip towards the puddle & especially away from it as the road rises very slightly. Most unusually, my car's traction control system operated, rarely does it need to do so. This is now getting a real problem for traffic using this road. Please provide a solution.

Despite there being several reports of this problem in recent years and some work done at this point in the road [unknown whether council or ??] this problem still exists. This problem is one which only affects cars not SUVs or HGVs which are sufficiently high from the road surface not to be affected. This is part of a much larger problem along Eaudyke Road and in the general area caused by heavy traffic and mud on the road. If you "have" to use the road I advise caution - do not go near the edge of the road especially when there are puddles or snow, you simply cannot see where the pot holes are and how deep they probably are.
