Two blocked culverts.

Reported in the Damaged dyke, ditch or culvert category anonymously at 14:30, Sun 12 January 2020

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 363764.

Two blocked culverts on left hand side of road leading into irnham village. Causing mud on road outside Gardeners cottage. The water runs constantly down the hill And is laying across the road, this could potentially cause very bad problems if we have ice on the road as there is a blind bend where all the water is flooding across the road. This is ongoing for many years.

  • This fault will be fixed as part of our next cycle of works. We cut the grass three times a year and treat weeds twice a year between April and October. We clean highway drains once a year.

  • To say that these culverts have been cleaned is actually not factually correct. I must insist that an inspector visits the site to see how bad this is. They have been blocked for 3 years. My husband has tried to clear both culverts but the depth of water was to deep and the blockage to vast. Turning a blind eye will not help the situation and the chances of a traffic accident is more than a possibility especially if the water turns to ice. There is a blind Bend As you enter irnham village which is causing the water to spread and become a danger to all. The amount of lorries using this road is always another cause for concern when the weather is bad.
