Craterous pothole just south of Barn Farm entrance

Reported in the Pothole on road/cycleway category by Dougie Brown at 17:18, Thursday 16 January 2020

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 3 minutes later. Council ref: 364315.

This pothole has been here for at least 2 months. It has contained a large traffic cone in an attempt to warn drivers but that is not longer there. The hole with exaggeration is the deepest crater I have ever encountered and it now difficult to avoid. Hitting it at normal road speed e.g. in the dark or when it is filled with water, inevitably will damage a vehicle.

  • I went to slowly drive around this unrepaired hole 10 minutes ago (Thursday 13th Jan) only to find another even larger 1m hole alongside it. Additionally, the hole 30m south of this location which is several FEET in diameter and around 30cm deep, has the remains of a traffic cone in it. All in all - and coupled with the several other smaller-but-deep holes just before and after these locations - there are multiple hazards here which are now not avoidable and remain unrepaired.

  • So TWO MONTHS after reporting this - and I was not the first - this crater is now of Martian proportions. The other holes have - of course - grown in depth and width as well as spawning. This has - according to Lincolnshire Highways - been passed for action. It's far more likely however that the only thing that's been passed here is bovine waste product.

  • So THREE MONTHS now. The road is virtually undriveable. I'll just leave this here.
