6-7 rainwater drains always blocked
Reported in the Flooding category anonymously at 16:42, Tue 25 February 2020
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 3 minutes later. Council ref: 368053.
Every time it rains heavily Churchgate floods to the point whereby the water comes over the kerbs on both sides of the road and people cant walk past. I believe this is because the drains outside Co-Op on Bridge Road and on both sides of Churchgate are blocked. When it rains the water just comes straight from Bridge Road and flows into Churchgate where the drains are also blocked. This has been happening for over 3 years now and although a road sweeper comes along once a year, This doesn't solve the issue. It needs every rainwater drain fully sucked clean right from the roundabout, along Church Road and most of the way down Churchgate.
Sending a roadsweeper to drive along won't fix this problem. It needs a full clear out of the drains.

This fault will be fixed as part of our next cycle of works. We cut the grass three times a year and treat weeds twice a year between April and October. We clean highway drains once a year.

Do you have a record of when this was last carried out? I have lived here for 4 years and I've never seen them unblocked and I walk past them everyday. When you say you clean highway drains once a year, do you mean they are opened and all the rubbish and leaves sucked out?

This problem is still occurring on a regular basis. Sometimes the water is getting to the boundary of peoples houses. I walked along the road during a recent downpour and all the rainwater gulleys from outside Co-Op on bridge Road all the way down to the BT box on Churchgate were blocked causing all the water to flood at the lowest point. This has been going on for over 3 years.

Can I please have an update on this issue? The drains are still overflowing and nothing has been done. I first reported this in February 2020 and still nothing has been done. You say you clean highway drains once a year. I've lived here 5 years and they have never been cleaned out.

Can you please update me as to whether these drains have been cleaned out this year as you say they are done annually between April and October but the road still floods? If not then I will obtain a freedom of information request for the information.
