Is there any chance of the path either side of the footbridge on Hawthorn Road being tarmaced?
Reported in the Trip hazard/uneven surface category anonymously at 15:17, Tue 2 June 2020
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 371942.
The current surface consists of quite large pebbles or stones which are not great for the considerable number of cyclists, runners, walkers and dogs that use the path. Could it be tarmaced at the same time as the eastern bypass? Alternatively, could the current surface be replaced with gravel or something similar that would be less uncomfortable for the users?

There is now a temporary path (large Rubber mats), which is extremely slippery in the wet. I'm surprised there have been no injuries to either pedestrians or cyclists. Also why has the footpath junction with St Augustine Road

The Rubber mat path is almost impossible for parents with small wheeled child buggies, extremely slippery when wet. Witnessed small child slip and fall over grazing knees.
The loose stone path between st Augustine way and the Hawthorn Road footbridge is also very difficult for buggies bikes and walkers (not sure who it is suitable for). Been like this at least since lockdown and probably weeks / months before.

I see tarmacing has started on the eastern bypass. Does that provide an opportunity for sorting out the path either side of the footbridge? The present surface is quite unsuitable, especially for cyclists, runners, dog walkers and parents with pushchairs. They would probably be quite happy if the path was closed for a few hours while a decent surface was laid. It's now almost two months since I first raised the issue and, despite the difficulties created by the coronavirus, that's surely sufficient time to investigate the problem.

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. The footway linking to the new NMU footbridge will be made good following completion of the footbridge works, it will be surfaced with standard bitumen construction. Thank you for reporting this matter.
