Cross hatching in access slip road
Reported in the Road markings faded/missing category anonymously at 13:24, Tue 9 June 2020
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 372221.
I live in one of the houses accessed via a shared driveway at the junction of South Road & Cherryholt Road, Bourne. When travelling south from Bourne town centre access was gained by turning right at the traffic lights into a small slip lane for the purpose. When the road markings were repainted this slip road had the markings changed and has been cross-hatched. Can it be returned to it's original state please. I've attached a link to google street maps showing how it looked previously. https://www.google.com/ maps/ @52.7603239,-0.36924,3a,75y,154.18h,106.45t/ data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sYDCZCMqDC-bLEX4sHSEjRg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

We are sorry we are not taking action with this report. We will not remove the lines as it will damage the road surface and shorten its life. As per the extract from the highway code below, drivers can enter the cross hatched area.
Areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road. These are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right. If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so. If the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by solid white lines you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency.
Thank you for reporting this matter.
