Pothole/road breaking up
Reported in the Pothole on road/cycleway category anonymously at 07:11, Wed 10 June 2020
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 372241.
The road surface is breaking away - causing potholes and a stretch of very uneven road. Very difficult for cyclists to ride on and they swerve to avoid. Very difficult for vehicles as it not only pulls you into the grass verge, but also risks damaging tyres. Has been like it for some time, but the previous Fix My Street report seems to have come down now?

Hello,
This problem doesn't seem to have been fixed along Cliff Road between Brewer's Grave and Woolsthorpe - a few of the smaller and deeper potholes have been filled but there are still plenty of road surface problems on each side of the carriageway causing traffic to swerve at short notice and approach the brow a blind hill / curve on the wrong side of the road. Please can you attend to these as a matter of urgency.
Thanks.

I'd also like to report that this whole stretch of road (Cliff Road between the bottom of the hill into Cliff Wood and Brewers Grave at the top) is very dangerous due to the severely degraded and damaged road surface, multiple deep potholes subsidence and requires permanent repair and resurfacing works. Dangers are to multiple road users particularly cyclists and motorists, as due to the poor surface and multiple deep potholes users are forced into the middle of the road in both directions. Combined with the incline, winding road and poor light due to the trees this is an accident waiting to happen, particularly now we enter the wetter , colder and darker part of the year.

This is very dangerous, both of the sides are is such a disrepair that you have to use the centre of the road which going up a hill with a blind crest and a blind corner is very dangerous, its basically a single track road unless you want to damage your car, it requires repairing as soon as possible especially with winter approaching as it will make it even worse than it currently is

Cliff Road going out of Woolsthorpe towards Denton (both directions) is very dangerous. There are many pot holes and the road surface is appalling. I use this road frequent and drivers are using the centre of the road to avoid damage to cars. There will be accidents as people are using the centre of the road on blind corners. It’s particularly dangerous in the shaded area due to the trees. This is only going to get worse as winter approaches.

I would like to add my concern about the state of this road. I use it regularly (more so now the bridge repairs on the A52 have closed that route into Grantham) and find it extremely dangerous. because the pot holes are so bad (particularly towards the top of the hill) i have to drive closer to the middle of the road to avoid them. And, on a sunny morning, visibility along this road is very poor, adding to the danger. I note that the first complaint on this site was almost 4 months ago, and there is still no scheduled repair date. I trust when the inevitable accident does occur, LCC will be held liable.

I use this road regularly and find it badly in need of resurfacing/repair. It’s dangerous and with winter coming needs attention that our taxes pay for. Thanks

What is the point of this site? The concerns have not been addressed and the road remains in a very poor and dangerous state. But all we get is a feeble response that basically says that nothing is going to be done in the short term. It’s the worst stretch of road for miles around and it’s just being left to get even worse as they winter weather approaches.

Hello Lincolnshire County Council. Despite repeated notifications from concerned citizens, no action has been taken at this site and the status of the post here has been changed to No Further Action. Regardless of any inspections, it’s obvious when using the road how dangerous it now is and the likelihood of an accident.
Please can you post links here to your escalation and complaints processes so that a proper dialogue and a commitment to repairs undertaken.
Thankyou.

This problem was first posted nearly 6 months ago and you haven’t investigated yet? LCC, we asked for a complaints and escalation process to be posted here - could you oblige please? There’s no point you posting the same reply and doing nothing!
