Water coming down my drive and flooding the garage
Reported in the Flooding category anonymously at 11:32, Mon 17 August 2020
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 375010.
When we get heavy rain, water runs down Halton road like a river and when it gets to my drive-number 22--it comes over the kerb and fills my drive, and runs down to my garage flooding it.--it also comes over the kerb of the christian fellowship next door and that runs into my drive too, this is nota new problem--our garage has been flooded several times in the last few years.

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. When we visited the site we checked the drainage and the carriageway outside the property and found that all are running well and the access is already raised from the road level. This is a capacity issue with high volume of rainfall periods compounded by the large concrete frontage, the surface water has no where to drain. You could shingle part of the frontage to act as a soak away. Thank you for reporting this matter.

That is complete rubbish ,,,as i told the guy who came and looked at it--it has flooded many times previously --BEFORE the concrete drive was put down,, but he was determined not to listen to anything i had to say-- the ONLY time we have a problem with flooding is when the water comes into our drive off the road.-- we never have any problems with water that actually falls on the drive-the surface water drains away with no problems. but the guy would not listen when I tried to tell him this, a shingle drive would be totally unpractical for the use we need the drive for.-- as for the drainage outside the property working well --when we recently had heavy rain the drains were working so well ,that a manhole cover on the opposite side of the road was lifting and water spurting into the air from it,, the drains just arent capable of coping with the water that runs down the road from the town in heavy rain. The big problem was that it was dry when the guy visited, so all looked ok.

PS: this isnt a new problem and cant be blamed on recent events--it has been happening for well over 20 years. all the time we have lived here

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because the gullies were cleaned on 19/08/21 and no issues were reported. This is a capacity issue during high level rainfall events. Thank you for reporting this matter.
