Deep and muddy truck tracks destroyed verge
Reported via desktop in the Wheel tracks or ruts category anonymously at 10:09, Wed 16 December 2020
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 382005.
Cars and a large truck frequently park on this verge and footpath. The verge is destroyed every winter, making crossing the road difficult, including when trying to access the footpath down to the orchard and school with a pushchair. The vehicles that park on this verge block some of the footpath and also makes it very difficult to see what vehicles are coming up Holland Road when trying to cross or pull out from Emlyns Street.

This verge path is getting worse. the car and van that parks here makes it hard to see whats coming when pulling out of emlyn street in a car. had a near miss as i couldnt see a car coming up holland road. repair the grass and put bollards like on conduit road to clear the path for walkers too.

When are works scheduled for this? The ground has hardened and a deep hole remains, but nothing is growing. Vehicles continue to park on the verge and block line of sight at the junction.

Huge safety concerns about this junction and the poor visibility due to the out of control parking and vehicles driving over the footpath. The verge is still completely destroyed, uneven and an awful eyesore. No cars or lorries should be driving over verges or the paths. Bollards are desperately needed to help keep this under control.

Any news on when the works are scheduled for ? Works vans continue to park here causing a obstructions for both pedestrians and also Vehicles. Do not want to think the consequences of a fire engine not being able to get through during an emergency.....

This problem continues to get worse. Work was scheduled for Thu 21 January 2021 and then again for Wed 14 July 2021, but nothing has happened. The quality of the verge is terrible and makes crossing the road difficult. Vans continue to park there, blocking the footpath and visibility of vehicles pulling out of Emlyn Street.

Last report on 16 feb says works are fixed. Works are simply not complete as you can see by the photo. It is worse. Please can you provide update on when this will actually be rectified as it’s been nearly 16 months since the first report and nothing had been done.

This work is far from complete. The verge has never been so bad. The truck that parks here now parks on the path to avoid the deep tracks of its own creation. This not only continues to block visibility of the junction, making pulling out of Emlyn Street dangerous, but the path can't be used by wheelchairs or pushchairs. Mud and stone is drawn down the road when the vehicles bump up and down the kerb and the road cannot be crossed easily by pedestrians at this point. Please repair the verge and sow grass or wildflowers (there used to be grass here) and install small bollards, as on Conduit Road, to prevent the dangerous parking of large vehicles.

Can we have an update please, this problem has been going on far too long. Now vehicles are blocking the path for all users and the view turning right out of Emlyn street is totally blocked. The accident that happened earlier in the year doesn’t seems to have forced you to do anything. Waiting for an even bigger accident to happen here now. Would be good to know if your planning on doing anything at all or it’s just a waste of time reporting this on this website ?

Please can you ensure that any scheduled works are more than just dumping topsoil?
The parking of trucks on the pedestrian pathway and verge completely blocks the view coming out of Emlyns Street, making this a dangerous junction. I for one have had to reverse back into the junction after just avoiding a collision when a car was coming fast up Holland Road. This was impossible to see without nudging out of the Emlyns Street due to the parked vans.
Attached picture show the view on Wednesday afternoon and there are times it is far worse than this.
Additionally, last time you added topsoil to the verge without addressing the parking, cars and vans continued to park on top of it, dragging the soil across the roads and path, making the area filthy and the holes in the verge worse.
