Pavement floods at pedestrian crossing

Reported via iOS in the Flooding category anonymously at 10:55, Thursday 14 January 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 384062.

The dimpled slabs at the crossing sit lower than the path or road so every time it rains a large muddy puddle appears.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. We're currently receiving a high volume of reports of flooding across the county. We are prioritising issues where water has entered people's houses and where water covers over half of the carriageway, which could endanger road users. Unfortunately, this means it can take us longer than usual to respond to other flood-related incidents. We've had some extremely wet weather recently which has resulted in saturated ground and very high water levels in streams and rivers. This means that sometimes, even if road drains aren't blocked, there is nowhere for the water to go, so it takes a lot longer than usual to drain away. Please rest assured we'll be checking all the drains once we've finished responding to the most urgent flooded areas. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • It’s not related to recent weather or flooding, it floods because that section of footpath is lower then the path around it or the road next to it so any and all surface water collects there forming a large puddle when wet and a sludgy mess afterwards.
