More holes than tarmac - Tamar Way.

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 384115.
14th January 2021 Dear Sirs Re: More Holes than Tarmac – Tamar Way I would like to submit my views to be taken into consideration, along with other residents, regarding the appalling condition of the road surface outside my home on Tamar Way. I bought my brand-new home from the builder and moved in with my family in 1973 and in the 47 years since moving in, I do not recall anything other than remedial tasks being carried out. This is the original road surface and after 47 years it is way beyond repair and needs replacing. The efforts of the team the council sent recently to ‘repair’ the road were farcical. Two operatives showed up in two separate vehicles in the rain on two separate days and sat in the van most of the time. My wife and I are now both in our 80’s. My wife struggles to walk and the surface has deteriorated so badly over the years that crossing the road safely is no longer an option for her. One of our neighbours has children who would be at risk if they were to attempt to ride a bicycle on the uneven surface. We also have an elderly lady living in the close who walks with a frame and I feel it’s only a matter of time before someone really hurts themselves in a fall that can be directly attributed to the poor road surface. I have worked all my life. I have never spent frivolously and instead, invested my income back into my home, the value of which must surely be adversely affected by the appalling state of the road surface. I have paid my taxes to the Council on time and without fail. I have never felt the need to complain about small insignificant issues but I do feel that this a dangerous situation, which needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. I await your response. Yours faithfully, K F Howard

We acknowledge your concerns and accept that the highway has deteriorated in condition. We have assessed the road surface in accordance with our Highways Infrastructure Asset Management Plan and it does not require urgent action. Currently, the potholes are shallow and would not take compaction therefore this type of repair would not last. The road condition is not suitable for a saw cut repair either and would ideally be suited to resurfacing. The site has therefore been identified as requiring further works however these would be subject to funding and other County priorities. In the meantime we will continue to monitor this location as part of our routine inspection schedule. Thank you for reporting this matter.
