I visited the Post Office situated at The Green, Thurlby today whereby I nearly fell over on sheet ice. As soon as I stepped out of my car I had to grab the door handle to stop me falling over. The ice across the top of the large puddle had been smashed by traffic travelling through the puddle but the wet road surface had frozen over and was extremely slippery. The grit box at the side of the road is not accessible due to the large puddle of water sitting against the kerb. Even if I had the appropriately shoes on I would still have got wet feet getting to the grit box, as can be seen from the photos. Only wellington boots are adequate in this area of The Green! The blocked drain/gully can easily been seen today in my photo whereas the other day when I took a photo of this area, the drain could not be seen because the water was even deeper! This is an accident waiting to happen. I am fearful of an elderly, frail pensioner falling over at the location and breaking a bone, which in the case of a very seriously ill/elderly resident would more than likely end their days on this planet!
