Poor Road Surface Causing my house to shake

Reported via desktop in the Pothole on pavement/verge category anonymously at 11:32, Thursday 28 January 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 386016.

This area of road has been repaired poorly twice since a watermain break a couple of years ago. It is now deteriorated to the point that every time a bus or high sided vehicle goes over it my house shakes. Pictures on walls move, items on surfaces shake. This part of the road bridges over the area where the Exeter Drain passes under the road.

  • I have spoken to my neighbours at 58 Halmer Gate (next door) and 39 Halmer Gate (exactly opposite). 58 said they would be reporting a problem because they are having the same issue. 39 said this has been a problem and having shaking etc and they said that when you investigate that they would like you to talk to them too. 39 is an older person and most likely not confident with IT. The buses and big articulated lorries are the worst. And many are going too fast which magnifies the problem.

  • After a recent visit to site we acknowledge your concerns and accept that the highway has deteriorated in condition and as such, the road has been included in part of a larger scheme for it to be resurfaced. In the meantime, we have assessed the faults in accordance with our Highways Infrastructure Asset Management Plan and we will continue to monitor the site as part of our routine inspections of the highway and will carry out the necessary repairs to areas which fall within intervention levels. Thank you for reporting this matter.
