Further to report 387232. We are aware that the drain jetting team have been working in Billinghay today and have not attended the drain near 1 Sprite Lane causing problems for the property. Water floods off the road onto the drive (which is lower lying land) and it would be really appreciated if this could be dealt with as soon as possible. Thanks

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because when we visited site on 10/03/21 for a wet weather inspection, nothing of concern was noted. However we will continue to monitor through our normal inspection routine. Our records show that the drains in this area were cleaned in September 2020 and were running well. In times of extreme weather even the most efficient systems can become overwhelmed. The ditches require attention however we believe these to be Riparian, which means they are the responsibility of the adjacent landowner. We're currently receiving a high volume of reports of flooding across the county. We are prioritising issues where water has entered people's houses and where water covers over half of the carriageway, which could endanger road users. Unfortunately, this means it can take us longer than usual to respond to other flood-related incidents. We've had some extremely wet weather recently, which has resulted in saturated ground and very high water levels in streams and rivers. This means that sometimes, even if road drains aren't blocked, there is nowhere for the water to go, so it takes a lot longer than usual to drain away. You can help by letting us know where standing water isn't receding a few hours after rain stopped. Please rest assured we'll be checking all the drains once we've finished responding to the most urgent flooding. Thank you for reporting this matter.
