We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. The previously repaired sections of carriageway that have failed again are the subject of a countywide programme of investigations into these subsidence sites. There are obvious underlying ground conditions that are causing these repeated failures and we are in the process of assessing all these sites and developing a programme of repairs/remedial measures. Temporary repairs will continue to be made to any potholes/voids forming in the repaired carriageway areas to ensure they are safe for traffic; these will be undertaken as soon as is possible. Thank you for reporting this matter.

So you have finally after 3 years and many temporary repairs decided to agree with what I said at the very start. It has been blatantly obvious right from the start that this is more than a simple subsidence issue, purely on the basis of the sheer volume of tarmac that has just disappeared down the hole. This volume has gone somewhere but where? Its not in the drains etc so where has it gone. There has to be a void down there to take it or its being washed away by an UG water flow. I think we have a "sink hole" that will appear one of these days: just hope its not my car that you will have to replace when it disappears!
