This surplus sign is still there on verge opposite No 22, and so is the one on Washdyke Lane by bridge over Beck, last seen propped against bridge parapet on S side of road. Neither sign has any identification of ownership. Would it not be an idea to have such labels? Signs like these are bound to be left around by mistake sometimes, a label with a phone number would aid recovery.

We are sorry we have not taken immediate action on this enquiry. The sign in question has been left out in accordance with policy to warn drivers whilst the newly laid road surface achieves its specified skid resistance through trafficking. However it is no longer needed and will be removed in due course. Thank you for reporting this matter.

I'm glad you are finally going to remove these signs after 4 months, but the attached explanation is just plain wrong. These signs appeared after treatment of very minor oil spills, as I reported originally, and there were 2 of them because that was the number of spills sanded. The roads in question had been resurfaced the previous year. Signs being left behind is a frequent and understandable event. Are you improving your quality procedures in order to reduce the frequency and duration? And what about my suggestion that all such signs have a label with the owenr and contact number?
