Drop kerb below road level

Reported via desktop in the Flooding category anonymously at 19:00, Saturday 8 May 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 396178.

This problem at Fen view LN4 4JW was reported in 2019 and followed up again earlier this year, the drop kerb is so low it is allowing water off the road to flow down my driveway and footpath into my property.

I have seen a person on site taking photos and have been informed by person I spoke to when I reported the flooding issue that it was meant to be repaired last year.

The amount of flow into my property is such that it is causing flooding of my parking area, area my shed is located, has caused paved footpath to subside and is now damaging my driveway and access areas.

I am now advising Lincolnshire county council that due to the lack of feedback, lack of rectification work to the drop kerb and damaged drain which also is blocked causing further flooding that if I have not been contacted to confirm a timeframe of these repairs to be carried out I will carry out emergency repairs and submit such costs to lincolnshire county council. I further advise the council that I cannot gain access to part of amy property due to this flooding without significant risk of falling. I am registered as disabled .

I consider that the dismal service to adres this fault completely negates the charges to me via council tax for highways. Further to this damage to the pavement which has also been reported and for which a claim was paid to my mother also has not been rectified again negating me paying for footpaths.

May I suggest a meeting on site ASAP to discuss these matters .

I will once rectification works have been carried out to the drop kerb have to carry out repairs to the area affected by the flooding. I will hold the council responsible for these costs.

  • This is a not a proper response, from what I understand they were in last year's budget, now forbid disrupted everything I know but let's see this from my side, I repair ambulances, imagine if I told every person who needed to be transported to hospital not to worry but work on the ambulance they need is scheduled, imagine. No I need to know when, this is almost three years not and nothing has been done. I need a firm answer and insist someone makes contact with me to discuss this asap , something needs to be done in the interim to stem the water flow each time it rains the road drain is in fact higher then my drop kerb so everything flows into my property, th I has to be addressed very soon or I will suffer more loss and damage .
