This problem has been occurring for a considerable time. Even small amounts of rain cause the road to flood. Vehicles then splash the water over the hedge at The Mount and are killing the bushes. Any pedestrians would be totally soaked and my drive is being flooded. I reported this last year and you cleared the nearest road gully, but it has not alleviated the problem. The solution would appear to need regrading the main road or a new drain.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because the area was inspected after rainfall and there were no issues with any large amounts of water on the carriageway. Any water pooling on the carriageway edges and not getting to road gullies is due to the shape of the road and lack of camber which is unavoidable. There is no chance of any water causing any form of flooding to properties. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • If, as you say, there is no problem why have I reported it and the adjacent school has also reported flooding. Your report is completely wrong. There is flooding outside my property. The evidence is visible at all times, even when there has been no rain, if you look at the hedge to my property which is being killed exactly where the flooding occurs. The water collects in the road and is then thrown over the pavement and my garden where it repeatedly drenches my hedges and any pedestrians who are passing. This is a perennial problem and needs your attention.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because there are no areas of newly laid carriageway that are at or near intervention level. Due to the lack of camber on this road, some areas will possibly hold water after rainfall however there is no chance of water entering the property at this location. Thank you for reporting this matter.

You are in error. Every time a vehicle passes my property it causes water to flood my garden and destroy my hedge. This is a problem caused by your road system. The fact that there is no newly laid tarmac is totally irrelevant.Indeed, this has been reported to you previously by myself and by the adjacent school. At that time you sent out a gully sucker to try and rectify the problem. If, as you say there is no problem, why did you attempt to rectify it? We are no nearer a solution to this problem. A site visit would help.

  • As previously stated this surface is relatively new and due to lack of camber there will be standing water after rainfall. No flooding to properties is occurring so no action at the present time. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • I have now reported this 4 times. You keep fobbing me off by talking about the age of the tarmac, which is immaterial. You state that no properties are being flooded. That is totally wrong. My property is being flooded by rainwater from your road which collects outside my property and is then flooding my drive and killing my hedge every time a vehicle drives past. When my hedge is completely dead will your council replace it or are you expecting me to pay to replace my hedge because your road does not drain properly? I have asked you to visit the site so that I can demonstrate the issue to no effect. But this issue will not go away on its own.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. The site was checked during rain and there is water in the channel but traffic is not splashing it onto the footway and there are no issues to flooding to properties. There are no plans for any works to be carried out. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • I responded to your reply (above) 14 days ago but you appear to have deleted my response. In your reply (above) you admit that there is standing water outside my property, as I have repeatedly reported to you. This standing water is then thrown high into the air and floods my property every time a vehicle passes. This is killing my hedge and is caused by rainfall from your road. I have asked you more than once to visit the site and see for yourself. Because you tell me there is no problem does not mean there isn't one! I would welcome the chance to show you. This issue will not disappear of it's own accord!

  • I received your reply on 3.7.21. You have finally admitted that water is retained on the road outside my property - but then you state that "traffic is not splashing it onto the footway". How can this be? Is the traffic levitating over the enormous puddle? This is clearly not happening. As I have reported before the traffic is drenching my hedge and killing it and would drench any pedestrian walking past at the time the traffic passed. I have pointed out repeatedly that my property is being flooded by water from your road which is retained there every time it rains. I have offered a site meeting to show your representative the issue. This offer is still open. The issue will not go away.
