Overgrown entrance to much used cut through is dangerous
Reported via desktop in the Overgrown tree/hedges category anonymously at 10:06, Mon 14 June 2021
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 398683.
For many years Sandringham Drive (and through it all streets on the North Holme Estate) has been connected to town by a cutting from a cul de sac on Sandringham to Mill Lane. This is used by all ages including Schoolchildren. I use a mobility scooter and if this cutting were not in use, my journey to town and the hospital would be considerably longer. Having lived her many years, I can remember when the Mill Lane end was bright, open and safe. Now, my scooter actually touches hedges on both sides and it’s impossible to see anyone coming along. I know other scooter users try, like me, to crawl around the corner to avoid hurting anyone but even at 1 mph a child could be hurt. More worryingly, cyclists often come through at speed. At night, it must be dire to have to walk through an almost enclosed footpath. In winter, the issue was less obvious because careful looking through branches could help to see anyone approaching but even so, I missed seeing a small person on occasion though was going slow enough to stop, thankfully.
