Repair of existing depression

Reported via Android in the Road surface issue category anonymously at 16:16, Wed 16 June 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 398870.

Yet another totally inadequate temporary repair of this long established depression.

The repair just done uses only 20% of the quantity of tarmac required to level out this "sinkhole in waiting".

Get a grip LCC and sort this out once and for all: you've already had 7 attempts at it.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. The previously repaired sections of carriageway that have failed again are the subject of a countywide programme of investigations into these subsidence sites. There are obvious underlying ground conditions that are causing these repeated failures and we are in the process of assessing all these sites and developing a programme of repairs/remedial measures. Temporary repairs will continue to be made to any potholes/voids forming in the repaired carriageway areas to ensure they are safe for traffic; these will be undertaken as soon as is possible. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • I understand what you say: you said the same thing about 2 months ago BUT after this last last Temporary Reiair we still have the same 8 inch deep depression about 3 feet across but now its full of water for lengthy periods since the piddly bit of tarmac has just sealed the bottom and nothing else. Anyway you, LCC, are aware of it and can't avoid an Insurance Payout in event of injury or damage to persons or vehicles. Its up to you LCC.

  • A further addition of tarmac done which as reduced the depth of water in the depression when it rains from 8" to around 5". LCC has made some progress but not enough.

  • A further addition of tarmac and it does look better BUT the depression is still some 5" deep.
