Insufficient drop from kerb to roadsurface
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 09:28, Mon 5 July 2021
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 400785.
During heavy rainfall surface run off from Ancaster Drive runs into Clinton Drive. As a result of previous resurfacing to both road and pavement there is only around 5mm of drop between kerb and roadsurface. I am advised by an ex highways employee that the drop should 25mm. Therefore surface water moves across the pavement and onto my driveway and floods my from and side garden. This occurred on 3rd and 4th July in a serious way so much so that there was a 1 metre wide area of water accumulated across the width of my property which was some 3 inches deep. This water went round the side and continued on for some 5 metres. Had I not been able to open man hole covers in the front garden the level of water the level would have risen and potentially flooded the house. The route cause is a drain on Ancaster Drive which badly overflowed on both occasions and needs checking an clearing. However, the actual issue we would like you to address is the profile of the pavement outside our property. Successive repair and maintenance practices basically means the road surface and pavement are level so flowing water is naturally going to run off this area into my driveway instead of being channelled to the roadside drain a few yards away. We are now concerned that every time it rains our frontage will be flooded and we will need to take emergency action to prevent flooding. Every time this happens the garden is being damaged along with the internal pathways in the property. I would like to request an inspection of the footpath etc and I can provide video footage of the incidents and impact. I would further request that remedial work is undertaken to change to profile of the pavement and kerb to ensure this is not an ongoing problem

I reported the Ancaster Drive drain issue to Anglian Water as well, as the man hole cover stated Anglian Water on it. Their technician attended this morning and advised the following: The drain is not there's the cover states FW (foul water) which is not the type of drain it is (it is surface water). He confirmed that this drain runs from the western end of Ancaster Drive and at this inspection chamber point makes a 90 degree right turn into a drainage channel that is not marked on AW mapping and is therefore not part of their network but is Highways. The belief is this channel runs between Clinton Drive and Ambleside Close properties and exits into a drainage ditch on London Road
