Flooding from highway into property

Reported via desktop in the Flooding category anonymously at 12:41, Sun 1 August 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 402495.

I have reported this twice before, the latest reference was 383259 which was dismissed. I find it hard to believe that "the site was visited multiple times in heavy rain conditions and no flooding was seen". Do you have staff standing by to visit Tallington when it rains? It is a frequent occurrence which requires attention. I understand that in extreme conditions one may expect problems but I would describe the conditions when these photographs were taken as moderately heavy rain. The drains are not the problem - I keep the drain to the East of the property clean - it is the dropped curb not being high enough to prevent water flowing into the shared drive. Furthermore I noticed that the surface water flows from West to East and does not reach the roadside drain as it floods into the shared drive before reaching it. This flooding also causes a hazard to pedestrians as mud from the road is deposited on the footpath and creates a slippery surface.

Will you please look into this problem and take action to raise the dropped kerb?

  • We are sorry that we are not taking immediate action with this report. Our records show that the drains in this area were cleaned in the last year and were running well. In times of extreme weather even the most efficient systems can become overwhelmed. If the problem recurs in less extreme conditions please report this again. If a private property is continually flooded the you can install your own private drainage to deal with the matter. Thank you for reporting this matter.
