Grass not cut back to beck

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown tree/hedges category anonymously at 15:21, Thu 12 August 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 403082.

As part of the environmental plan put into place the grass should be cut back right down to the beckside all along the beck along well head lane to prevent flooding and to keep drains clear. There are a number of small trees growning along the edge of the beck and the homes have surface water drains that lead into the beck that are being to crack as the roots are going through these drains as the beckside managment programme is not being followed. The beck it's self has become over grown and has trees now hanging low over the beck and right up to the roadside. Please advise when the works to rectify these issues will be carried out?

  • The 'beckside management programme' will be the responsibility of the owners of the beck which will be someone like the drainage board, the parish council or the environment agency, this will not be the responsibility of Lincolnshire County Council and we have have no knowledge of this. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • Thank you for the previous response, I have been on to the the Environment agency and they list as an ordinary watercourse and have no dealings with this beck and don't own any of the land but they do say that you should have a Management plan for the beck as you are the Lead Local Flooding Authority in charge of this area. I have contacted the First Witham drainage board and they have a notice in place they will carry out works on this area but only from instruction and to follow out the management plans. Do you have a copy of this management plan that I can pass on to the Parish council so they can check works are being carried out?
