Potentially dangerous road verge and footpath

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown tree/hedges category anonymously at 16:52, Wed 18 August 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 403438.

Once again Crowtree Lane , from Little Crowtree Lane junction to Hubbards Hills, has been totally ignored as regards any removal of weeds tree growth and nettles. The road width is now reduced by 1/3rd at places, allowing no room for cars to pass. On the footpath, the only way for pedestrians to pass is for people to step back in to nettles as tall as adults. The situation is dangerous. In three weeks time many, many children and adults will be walking down here to the annual Duck Race, Will we be told again that the path nettles are in “no mans land” and cannot be cut back. Will we be seeing cars scraping alongside each other, or worse, mother and child injured. Please, urgent attention is needed now, and the an ongoing plan for regular maintenance.

  • A little surprised to find that having been notified of the hazard posed that the risk was being addressed, no attempt to actually remove the hazard before this weekends event have been made. I hope I am proved wrong and you have a team out there tomorrow to prevent any injuries on Sunday

  • Fortunately no accidents occurred as people stepped aside, into brush and nettles to a avoid the cars on a record attendance on Sunday, A whole year befor the next Duck race, but there may still be a few sunny weekend this year.

  • This fault will be fixed as part of our next cycle of works. We cut the grass three times a year and treat weeds twice a year between April and October.

State changed to: No further action

  • This complaint is NOT resolved. You are mistaken when saying that the grass is cut three times a year. There is no attention to the verges and no one takes responsibility for the footpath, your contracted works stop at the junction with Little Crowtree Lane.I invite you to walk the area with our local Councillor and myself.
