Cable duct across carriageway
Reported via desktop in the Problem at other roadworks category anonymously at 17:33, Wed 15 September 2021
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 405259.
Road works on bend of Station Road, between properties 30 to 36. Temporary lights are in place at foot of the steepest part of the hill. A cable duct/ ramp has been laid across the single carriageway mid- works. TWO Major Issues here. 1. The ramp is so tall and so narrow that both rear wheels of vehicles have been seen to leave the ground even when crossing it at moderate speed. Expect claims for compensation. 2. Because traffic has to slow almost to a halt to negotiate the ramp, traffic coming through the Green light takes so long to get through that the lights change before the lead vehicle even gets past the traffic lights at other end. Today for example, all 10 vehicles came uphill after the downhill light turned Green. By the time I reached the end of the road works, the lights had gone Amber for the waiting traffic and I was the first through! The cable duct is hazardous and causing significant traffic problems. Ramp needs removing or changing to lower the height/ severity. Urgently.
