How can you title a cock up?

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 405885.
Are you absolutely backwards? One lane of work getting done and you close the road. Why are your decisions made by toddlers? You absolute bunch of amateurs.

How long is this work going to take? There are conflicting reports. One source is saying 6 months. The detour is horrendous for daily commuters working beyond Walcott.

The Drift has a sign at the entrance advising that the route is unsuitable for HGVs. Many large vehicles are ignoring this sign. The back road from Walcott to Billinghay is narrow and bumpy and the verges are soft when it rains. Please review the risks of accidents on this road against those associated with a well regulated traffic light system for the roadworks on the the B1189. Many thanks.

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the above works and the associated diversion route. When carrying out these type of works a Road Closure is used as a last resort when other forms of Traffic Management including 'Temporary Traffic Signals' can be carried out safely. A full road closure was necessary on the rural 60MPH section of the B1189 between the villages of Billinghay & Walcott and agreed on the initial site visit by representatives of LCC and Balfour Beatty. This section of the B1189 is narrow for this classification of road at 5.7m, and together with the Plant & Equipment required for this type of works as well as a 1.2m 'site safety zone' we were unable to achieve the required absolute minimum width for any motorized vehicles to travel through this site. The absolute minimum width being 3.0m for Normal traffic including buses and HGV's & 2.5m for Cars and light vehicles only. This is in accordance to 'Safety at Street Works and Road Works – A Code of Practice' October 2013. We are however keeping the carriageway open to pedestrians & cyclists for the duration of the closure with a temporary coned off footway on the opposite side of the works. The official diversion route is – B1189 Walcott; B1191 (via Scopwick); B1188 (via Ruskington); A153; B1189 Billinghay and vice versa, as we have to use like for like roads of the same or higher classification of the road which is closed. We appreciate that there will be an increase in traffic on minor roads, especially from those with local knowledge. This road is being monitored by Highways Officers for the duration of the works and if necessary additional signage will also be placed at strategic points on main routes well in advance of the works, so as to advise motorists, especially those from outside the area of the closure. During the road closure the minor roads will be monitored for any further surface defects and kept in a safe condition. Once the closure is lifted any damaged verges will be reinstated to its original condition and any defects caused as a result of the works will be repaired. Thank you for reporting this matter.

The fen road between Walcott and Billinghay is now in a dangerous state as both sides are a mud bath with numerous hidden deep holes and trenches developing. Cars are having to be pulled out of the sides of the road on a daily basis. The disaster of replacing a decent path along the B road with a new tarmac (the “last a year type” that even the contractors admit us not as good as what they’re digging up) is a joke. Who signed off on this and how much has it cost? Someone is going to get hurt as winter closes in- your liability
