  • Wrong conclusion, I did not agree to your changing my report classification from “Pedestrian footway obstruction” to “Vehicle carriageway visibility”. My original written details are explicit and clear, kindly action and remove the footway obstructions without further delay or time-wasting? The Highway Act 1980 requires the overhanging vegetation is cleared (property owner responsibility), all vegetation and soil accumulation are to be removed for the full width of the footway, for the entire length from Brick Lane to Church End (north exit). The LCC “Highways Infrastructure Asset Management Plan” claimed inspections are failing to progress and enforce the legislation, basic annual infrastructure maintenance is not occurring. Previous 2020 notifications for village residents with mobility issues remain outstanding, contrary to LCC accessibility policy objectives. Refer also 407611, which is not a grass cutting issue, it is the obstruction removal on the pedestrian footway (also restating 2020 issues).

  • We use a risk-based approach to prioritise encroachments that are considered to be a significant danger or nuisance to users of the highway. In this instance we aren’t taking immediate enforcement action but will continue to monitor and review this site as part of our routine inspections of the highway. If the problem deteriorates considerably, please report this again to us. Thank you for reporting this matter.
