Reported via desktop in the Street light category anonymously at 15:21, Wed 3 November 2021
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 408733.
Re Coverley Road, Wellfield Close and Harrington Road. Please can you adjust the lighting timer system to ensure they stay on until midnight. They were not adjusted to account for the -1 hour change change from British Summer time to Greenwich mean time. Many thanks in advance.

The issue of part night street lighting turning on/off at different times during seasonal adjustments is a known, but temporary situation. Street lights have sensors that monitor the number of daylight hours, which is how they set their internal clock; they are not adjusted manually nor controlled from a central management system. During the autumn and spring time, the lights enter a period of adjustment when their timings may vary as they adapt to the changes between British Summer Time and Greenwich Mean Time. But in addition to the transition period associated with the clocks changing, part night sensors can also be affected by changeable or overcast weather conditions, and by their location - if they are in shade from buildings or trees for example. Please be assured these variations are not intentional or due to any technical fault, but unfortunately the seasonal adjustment periods are unavoidable and are only temporary. Thank you for reporting this matter.

Turning off street lights at the time pubs close is unhelpful to people who drink but wisely don’t drive.
