Hit by an 'A' board
Reported via desktop in the Obstruction on pavement/verge category anonymously at 14:55, Mon 8 November 2021
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 409139.
On 22 October which was a windy day I was walking along the pedestrian High Street when I was hit on the back of my legs by an 'A' board which blew over - the board was located near the Greek stall on Stamford Friday market at the bottom of Ironmonger Street and the pedestrian High Street. It really hurt at the time and several days latter there were bruises all down the back of my right leg from the knee downwards. This is obviously a health and safety issue. 'A' boards are also an eyesore when littered all along the High Street and difficult for those with sight problems to negotiate. It was windy day and several 'A' boards blew over even ones with bases. I happened to see a Stamford Town Councillor and told him what had happened, and he moved several 'A' boards to the side of the pedestrian area so they were less of a hazard. I reported this on 25 October to SKDC thinking the market was it's responsibility and they have got back to me today advising me that it is a LCC matter and to report it on the 'fixmystreet.

Currently our resources are such that we have to restrict our efforts to dealing with encroachments that are considered a significant danger or nuisance to users of the highway. In this instance we do not intend to take any immediate action, however we will continue to monitor the site as part of our routine inspections of the highway and will review the situation as necessary. Thank you for reporting this matter.
