Request for roadside safety barrier

Reported via iOS in the Roadside safety barrier category by Cllr Alex Hall at 13:23, Wed 17 November 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 409773.

Covenham Parish Council reported that there had been a big increase of walkers in the village and in this current location there is an open ditch and there have been incidents of vehicles falling into the ditch. With the road being so narrow and the ditch so close to the road it’s vital for the safety of vehicles users that something like this is put in place.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. The dyke in question is maintained by Lindsey Marsh Internal Drainage Board (LMDB) not Lincolnshire County Council. This ditch has never needed any form of guard rail in the 20+ years the area has been looked after by the local Highways Officer, it has never been reported that any vehicles have entered the dyke and drivers would find it very difficult to exceed 20mph at this location due to the tight bends from either direction. If the parish still feel strongly about this you will need to write to LMDB with your concerns. You can contact them at https://www.wmc-idbs.org.uk/ LMDB/ Contact-us/ default.aspx Thank you for reporting this matter.
