Overgrown Hedges

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown tree/hedges category anonymously at 14:25, Fri 10 December 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 411388.

The Hedge on the corner of Gladstone street, is overgrown on both sides (street side and road side) It is overgrown by approx 2-3 feet as the original street sign and bus stop are now buried in the middle of the hedges. I do not understand why the council have put a new street sign and bus stop stand in, when the originals are still there? The main issue now is that you have very limited visibility when pulling out of the street, and I have to walk on the road when walking my dog down the street.

  • Currently our resources are such that we have to restrict our efforts to dealing with encroachments that are considered a significant danger or nuisance to users of the highway. In this instance we do not intend to take any immediate action, however we will continue to monitor the site as part of our routine inspections of the highway and will review the situation as necessary. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • We consider it to be very overgrown... As previously stated the original street sign and bus stop post are buried well within the hedge. My wife has a very long bonnet on her car and has had 2 near misses pulling out of the street given the limited visibility because of the overgrown hedge. The main path on the road side is also for pedestrians and cyclists, and on photo 1 & 2 you can quite clearly see how overgrown it is and how narrow it goes, and how wide the path should be, there is nowhere enough space for pedestrian/cyclist. We have reported it to you and you state it is not a nuisance or considered a danger. All I can say if that my wife or I have any sorted of accident pulling out of the junction or incur any injuries on/off the pavement on the street side whilst walking our dog, or on our cycles, then we will take legal advice and present all our evidence and documents. Thank you for your time. David Hankin
