Water blocking access to house and causing issues for pedestrians.

Reported via desktop in the Flooding category anonymously at 20:37, Sun 26 December 2021

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 412451.

For moths there has been lots of water on the one side of the road, It never drains away and the verge is being destroyed. The camber on the road means that the water cannot reach the drain on the opposite side of the road. It is highly dangerous for walkers. They have to walk in the middle of the road and cannot get to the verge to avoid traffic. This is highly dangerous as vehicles often do not obey the speed limit on this part of the road. Somebody is going to get hurt if this is not addressed urgently.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. This area of the village is 30mph and not of high speed due to the shape of the carriageway and numerous parked vehicles. The public house side of the carriageway has a perfectly safe footway for pedestrians to use and water will drain away slowly as it has always done. No major reshaping of the surface is planned for the near future. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • IMPORTANT: Your inspection was not in the right place. The "incident" reported earlier refers to an issue much further down Main Street and nowhere near the public house. It is beyond Covins Lane and where new houses have been built. There is NO footpath anywhere need this part of the road, there are no parked cars either. The smallest amount of rain causes huge puddles which exacerbate issues already reported because the road simply does not drain. Many, many vehicles (often large) on this stretch of the road ignore the speed limit and, if required, videos are available showing the speed they travel. The issue remains unresolved.

  • Once again LCC have NOT actually taken into account the photo's or exact position of the problem do you work on just guesses . This area does have a highways verge (not belonging to property's) however there is NO Footpath not only does the amount of surface water cause problems pedestrians have nowhere to go if a large vehicle or 2 passing due to posts & shrubs planted on this verge. The lighting has been out for months

  • Can there please be an inspection of this location as the issue remains. It is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous for pedestrians (one recent incident involved a woman leaping up the verge to avoid a car and the water). It is dangerous and access the house next to the issue is difficult and sometimes impossible to access for postmen and other essential services.

  • LCC take account of the incorrect area you addressed comment 2. The posts on the verge at one property do not help the situation either. the verges belong to highways not the property's posts & shrub on them are adding to the problem. Drain need to be relocated

  • The street light is now not working… adding to the issue
