  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because these posts pose no danger to walkers, cyclists or vehicles. They are highly visible to motorists with reflectors on. Cyclists and walkers wouldn't be going along the verge due to the condition of it that the homeowner is trying to improve by putting in the posts to stop vehicles going onto the verge. To note there are many other properties along this road with deterrents such as cones and other items on the verge. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • I question what makes the Highways Dept think that people wouldn't walk along there. ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. Many walk in the dark at night, and as vehicles come along have to step onto the (muddy) verge. As the author is part of the update is of Highways they will be well aware that there are no street lights working along that stretch of road for some time, this was reported in April, July & November 2020, this compounds the hazard. I have taken note of the wording and will refer to it should I have cause to complain about damage or injury to my person, bicycle or vehicle. I also understand that the verge is construed as part of the highway and not belonging to the property and may be used to negotiate around oncoming vehicles or obstacles, without having to look out for obstructions wilfully placed there to impede passage
