Huge hole been left unmarked

Reported via mobile in the Problem at LCC roadworks category anonymously at 07:44, Wed 5 January 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 413235.

A few weeks ago I stopped for a lady who had reversed to turn in the road and her wheels went down a huge hole dug out approximately two feet deep. She was very distressed and waiting for recovery to pull her out. I assumed she would report but it’s still the same weeks later. It’s like it’s been dug out for pipes or something and just left. No cones no signs no tape no nothing. Incredibly dangerous especially in the dark. Please inspect ASAP. It’s on the Branston Road from Branston to Heighington on left side before you get to houses on the long stretch. It’s between bushes at edge if field Photos don’t really show depth very well.

  • State changed to: Investigating

Updated by Lincolnshire County Council at 11:45, Thu 6 January 2022

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. An officer has assessed the enquiry and will arrange for cones to be placed at the rear of the tarmac crossing to make it safe within the next 24hrs. Further investigation will be carried out should the area not be backfilled in a reasonable time period. It is assumed that the farmer has excavated the private land over the dyke in order to pipe through but may also be trying to prevent access onto the adjacent land. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action
