No light during the hours of darkness

Reported via mobile in the Street light category anonymously at 17:05, Wed 5 January 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 413305.

The street light is in the alleyway near the allotment entrance and when dark/overnight it is very dark to walk thru the alleyway from Melville Close to Church Rd, coupled with the uneven pavement kerb edge it is very dangerous & an accident waiting to happen, also very vulnerable to a sole pedestrian walking thru at night time without a torch. Been not working since mid December.

  • Contrary to your email advising me that this light is now fixed, at 5.55pm on 21st January I have to report that the streetlight is still not working. I would appreciate a response to this problem as soon as possible as it is extremely dark kn the alleyway & pedestrians are extremely vulnerable. Thank you.

  • 4th Feb. 2022 Re; 413305 I reside at 3, Melville Close. Although the street lamp on the public right of way was reported faulty by somebody else during December (the bulb was flashing all the time), nothing occurred to replace it. It is still totally dark at night and because the surface of the footpath is so rough to walk down it is not going to be long before an injury to a pedestrian is going to be caused PLEASE can it be fixed urgently. Thank you in anticipation

  • Twice you have updated to say that this street light has been fixed, and despite locals informing you on both occassions that this is not the case, it STILL remains unfixed as at 9th February 2022. In what is seasonally the darkest period of the year, this is wholly unacceptable. The lack of remedial action is bad enough, but twice reporting that this has been fixed, when it blatantly hadn't been, is at best incompetent and at worst a disgraceful display of contempt for the council tax paying community. From 5.30 pm (earlier in January) Melville Close has been in near total darkness till daybreak the following day, leaving people vulnerable walking though the alleyway in darkness. With a nearby uneven and broken pathway also reported and unrepaired, are you really going to wait until there is an incident, or someone has an accident before dealing with this - when no doubt you'd then have to take urgent action albeit too late?

  • Unbelievably, you have today reported for the THIRD time that this streetlight has been fixed-lessthan 24 hours after I telephoned your office to advise you that it still hadn't been fixed following two earlier updates from you stating that it had been. Somewhere in Branston you must be repeatingly 'fixing' a perfectly working streetlight since the street light in question STILL remains in its non functioning state. Failing that, there is just simple, but staggeringly gross incompetence in your admin and IT departments leading to the posting of multiple false reports. I attach two photos of the streetlight in question...one in daylight so that there can be no doubt in identifying it, and one taken this evening after lighting-up time, but with enough daylight to demonstrate its continued failure...any later and the picture would be, as every evening has been for the LAST SIX WEEKS AT LEAST, total darkness.
