Road surface water flooding property driveway

Reported via desktop in the Flooding category anonymously at 11:28, Saturday 8 January 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 413691.

Since moving to the property in September '21, we have been subject to flooding on our main driveway. During heavy periods of rainfall this has been significant, including the flooding of our garage. Upon investigation, it is clear that the camber of the road is pushing rainwater to the road sides (as expected), however, the pavements for a number of driveways including our own have no upstand on the kerbs which is pushing surface rainwater into the driveways of the properties, including our own which takes the majority of the road surface water as the first driveway with significant drop on the kerb and footpath. In addition, the footpaths themselves also have a camber on them which also pushes water into the properties. Whilst there is drainage on the opposite side of the road (against the field), there is insufficient drainage on the roadside next to the properties causing the water to flow to the driveways where the kerb upstanding is non-existent. Upon inspection, this appears to be an issue for a number of properties along this road. Whilst we have now installed acos at the front of our property, the fact our drive is the first point where the road water breaches is why we are hit with significant volumes of surface water, hence we are concerned that the measures taken at our own cost may still not be enough during high periods of rainfall. It is our understanding that the maintenance and removal of surface water from the main roads to be the responsibility of the highways as opposed to local land owners, hence the request for it to be resolved asap.
