10 inch sunken dip

Reported via mobile in the Road surface issue category anonymously at 19:13, Thu 20 January 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 414923.

This sunken dip I reported in September, it is now deeper, thuds and shakes our bungalow and our neighbours too! Worse when concrete lorries and double decker buses and hgv deliveries to building site at rear, this is destroying our house we have various cracks due to this!

  • I live at the top of Viscount Close facing Pennytoft Lane. I too feel strong vibrations with the hgv's and double decker buses that go by. There appears to be a big dip in the middle of the middle of the road on Pennytoft Lane opposite the entrance to Viscount Close.

  • Thank you for your enquiry and we're sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing. The road has been inspected and there are no significant deviations in the road surface that require work. Vibration within your property could be related to underlying ground conditions and/or the structural integrity of your property and you may wish to commission a structural engineer to report on the issue. If a report of this nature identifies any actionable highway related issues we would be happy to discuss it further. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • Absolutely rubbish! Standing at the roadside for 5 mins is NOT an investigation! You never even waited to see any buses or hgvs using the road did you just like you didn't in September! We only moved into the property August 21, our neighbours in the November, we ourselves had a full structural survey and nothing came back, presumably our neighbours the same. Please tell me if there is no issue with the road itself how can 2 seperate properties experience the same bangs thuds and vibrations? That makes no sense at all does it but as usual Lincolnshire County Council don't care! What exactly do we pay our council tax for? Just to be fobbed off it seems!! Fine wait until the road collapses or a sink hole appears! Then you'll do a big write up in the local papers how this suddenly came out the blue and had people reported it could've been prevented!
