  • This pothole is massive, it is just before the junction as you go towards the A1 and will easily crack a wheel. If a vehicle is right up to the line at the junction you cannot avoid the hole due to having to pull out towards the central line

  • At 1700 on Saturday 5 our car hit this unavoidable pothole and destroyed the wheel. The tyre was shredded and the wheel damaged requiring a flatbed lorry to recover the vehicle after 5 hours. The attached picture is a screenshot from the dashcam which has recorded the incident. We will be claiming compensation. This pothole is simply enormous, its like a sinkhole and lies directly in the tracks of the off side wheels. The depth of this pothole is alarming.

  • Destroyed my tyre while driving to work. Perfect as you are just about to enter the A1. The size of this it surely can't even be classed as a pothole it's gigantic

  • This is nearly 6 inches deep now lethal for motor cycles and invisible in the dark ! Its not possible to photo in this dangerous busy location.

  • Took some photos on my way home from work to add to my claim as it has caused damage to my car

  • I hit this pothole in the early morning of 11th February, I found I’ve damaged my tyre. This defect is incredibly dangerous, especially for motorcyclists as it’s close to the junction on a steep incline and entry onto the A1. Considering how long ago this was reported, there is no sign of any attempt at repair or mark this defect for repair.

  • Having reported this pothole destroying our wheel on 5 Feb (still no response to our claim) despite it first being reported on here on 21 Jan, we are now in March and this STILL hasn’t been fixed. Are you waiting for a motorcycle fatal? I drove that stretch of the road from the A1 to the Grantham roundabout and it isn’t far off being classed as ‘off road’.

  • Saw a yellow line was put around it some point earlier this week but still nothing further and the road gets worse everyday.

The entire high dyke is full of holes that will be like this in no time.

I have also been sent a response to my claim informing me it is being investigated but could take up to 6 months for a decision. I don't understand how it can take this long as it was apparently investigated on the 21st of January and deemed no further action was needed.

Who else could be at fault?!

The council was made aware and deemed it unnecessary to do anything. What's it going to take to get this repaired? A crash? Someone getting injured? I have to use this road almost daily and see people having to swerve to avoid this or heavily apply their brakes due to the size and location.

  • Hit this pothole 27 Feb and required recovery back to my residence, car needs two new tyres, a steering rack bush and wheel alignment.

  • Thought I’d have a look at it again today. WHY has this taken 2 months to do an emergency repair? WHY do you continue to allow road accidents to occur? WHY does it take 6 months to investigate for insurance? Presumably so we investigate other means of funding like off our own car insurance. If this pothole/cave causes a fatal, you are responsible, and the prosecution evidence is quite compelling.

  • This pot hole amongst a few more onthis stretch of road have still not been fixed despite some further on up being so called repaired, only this morning I past an elderly couple that had hit it, get it sorted

  • Under Section 42 of the Highways Act it is the responsibility of the local authority to maintain roads to a standard where they are safe to use. A pothole is a defect and the council and its Highways department are well aware of this, and a number of other pothole ‘defects’ along that road and have been for some considerable time - 2 1/2 months. The council is therefore failing in its duty of care and statutory duty under the Highways Act. I cannot see how a section 58 defence could be considered as you have been informed multiple times over ab extended time period and have clear evidence this pothole is dangerous from multiple damage reports, one including dashcam footage.
